What is a re:mix? Re:fuel? Re:charge? It’s all jargon used at Aloft Hotels.
I hadn’t heard of the Aloft hotel chain before I stayed at the Aloft Chicago O’Hare in Rosemont. It turns out it’s a fairly new brand of the Starwood hotel group, the same folks who bring you Westin and Sheraton hotels. It’s different, though, from a Westin or Sheraton with its contemporary boutique styling and unique jargon for everything from the hotel lobby to the swimming pool.

Our king room’s horizontal lines with platform bed and sleek low-backed sofa, two large windows and a high ceiling gave the room an open airy feel.
The retro art deco clock added a fun touch.
I liked that the toilet and walk-in shower were separate from the sink and vanity area. It makes it easier for two people to get ready for the day at the same time.
The lobby, bar, recreation and eating areas are all in one open, great room-like area with exposed ductwork and concrete floor in some areas. This area is referred to as the Re:mixSM.
The 360o lobby desk doubles as the cashier station for the Re:fuelSM, a grab-and-go snack station. In addition to beverages and prepackaged snacks, hot options are available for breakfast.
During the day the comfy Re:mix furniture makes a nice place to relax.
At night, lights dimmed, music playing, it becomes the W XYZ Bar.
Down the hall the fitness room, referred to as the Re:chargeSM, available to guests 24×7, includes state-of-the-art equipment.
The Splash swimming pool is available for use from morning through evening.
Another great feature of the Aloft Chicago O’Hare is the location near the airport. Aloft provides complimentary 24-hour shuttle service to O’Hare. The hotel is also within walking distance (mostly covered) of the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center and the M.B. Financial Park, where you’ll find eight restaurants, including the Hofbrauhaus, and entertainment like iFLY Chicago indoor skydiving, Kings Rosemont for bowling and dining, Zanies Comedy Club and more.
The A-Loft Chicago O’Hare is located at 9700 Balmoral Avenue in Rosemont, Illinois. Visit the web site for more details or to make reservations.
Disclosure: Our stay at the Aloft Chicago O’Hare was complimentary. However, all opinions are my own. Photos by Skip Reed and Connie Reed.
